Othonas Charalambous is a visual artist, writer and filmmaker from Cyprus. His interdisciplinary practice encompasses video, sound, installation and sculpture to explore nuanced relationships between humanity and the natural world. Often departing from spatiotemporal narratives around local biopolitics, his work explores questions of embodied interconnectness, impacts of human activity on non-human life, perceptional discrepancies and elaborations of corporeal existence through and around natural environments.
His work is exhibited worldwide including at CEAC (Xiamen, China, 2022), Het Nieuwe instituut (Rotterdam, Netherlands, 2021), Salone Degli Incanti (Trieste, Italy, 2018), among others. Charalambous is also the co-founder and co-director of artistic projects aimed at fostering environmentally consious practices including Platform: Climate Challenge (Visual Artists & Art Theorists Association, 2018-20) and Perceiving Landscape(s) (International Association of Photography & Theory, 2020-21).
